Watch it Wiggle

Today is a happy day. I found, for the first time in 15 years, Jello Pudding Pops in the frozen food isle of the Piggly Wiggly. When I was in high school my brother and I got into a fight over the last Pudding Pop in mom’s freezer. I removed it from the box and we realized it was the last one. The pushing and pulling match began. It ended with me beating the Hell out of him with a block of hard pudding. Ah, good times, good times.

I think they should make frozen cocktail pops for adults, loaded with alcohol and fruit flavored. I’ve had Jello shots but I’m thinking more like a Fuzzy Navel on a stick. Maybe like a Push-Up, as melting and waste would be too tragic to bear.

I’m also excited because this weekend I’m planning on going car shopping. Here’s what I’m thinking about:

If that doesn’t work, try:

Coupe

I built a coupe on line and selected the Dark Slate, with the leather interior, the Bose stereo, and the moonroof. Quite a step up from the ‘02 Corolla! I’m not going to make a move until January, but it’s not too early to start test driving! Testing now means that I can experience the car in summer and fall before a winter purchase. The dealership is going to HATE me. My only worry is about having a car note again. It’s amazing how much more cash you can find every month when you’re not throwing $400 toward wheels.

If I have to give something up so that new note doesn’t pitch too hard, I think I’m going to give up smoking (third times a charm, right) and buying books I never read. Total, that’s probably around 2 grand a year. That’s not enough. I may have to give up bottled water, too. And humus. And pool toys.

God. Maybe I should stick with that Corolla after all.

  • Sweet Mary in a manger, I love me some Jello pudding pops.  I really miss those Bill Cosby commercials… We just had a Piggly Wiggly open up here in town and I think I’ll be wigglin’ to the Pigglin’ tomorrow to get me some of that.

Altimas are awesome!  If that’s what you want and you can afford to buy now, Nissan is having their awesome model year end sale right now through the end of August.  If you wait until the last days of the month, they will probably make you a really sweet deal. I promise, I’m not a salesman - I bought a Pathfinder this way two years ago.  Good luck!

  • i miss pudding pops. :-( no piggly wiggly’s up north but i do remember them from when i lived in florida. the first time i saw one i was confused. i couldn’t figure out why the pigs were wiggling. lol

honestly, i’ve only had one new car in my life and that’s the cobalt we got in december. i’m happy with it but then again my last car was a 92 ford topaz. (yeah, that’s a 1992, not 2002) and that was one of the newer cars we’ve owned. lol

  • Shut My Mouth,

Thanks for the advice. It’s going to take every ounce of will power I have not to buy a car this weekend. I am committed to January. It’s my new year’s resolution!

    Heather,

New cars are such a bad deal! Used is totally the way to go. However, these Altimas are too new to be used (what?), so if that’s what I want, I have to get it. I’m excited thinking that no one before me will have pooted up the car.

  • There’s a new anti-smoking pill out now called chantix. Your insurance may even pay for it, my co-worker’s did. Her husband is on it and is doing great, he is a two pack a day smoker! Nice choice on the altima, I’m looking for a new car too. Gonna give the 98 Honda to Morgan, she gets her permit in December. Good luck with holding out on buying!

  • The “Morgan” gave it away! I’m so glad you commented!

I’ve actually tried Chantix and it did work, but then I quit taking it and, well, I’m smoking right now. Thanks for the advice. I’ll try again sometime this Fall.

You are welcomed back any time. But keep Bam away from the computer, please. His comments usually point out flaws in my thinking!  smile How is that even possible?

  • personaly i agree with you re: new cars but j was so sick and tired of working on cars in a rush so that i had transportation to and from work that he insisted on a new car. the one good thing about it is what it’s done for our credit rating, which ~was~ in the toilet. we’re doing much better with that now. grin

as for bam thinking that there are ~any~ flaws in your thinking, yeah right! just because ~he~ doesn’t get it, doesn’t mean that ~your~ thinking is flawed. after all, you’re female, that automatically guaranties that your thinking is superior to his. grin

  • I made my last car payment on my car a few months ago and I’m sure it’s just going to fall apart on me now that it’s paid off.

Good luck shopping and giving up smoking.

  • Churlita, I know you’re going to hate this suggestion, but put that car payment into savings! Soon you will need repairs or, eventually, a new car. It really helps when you see that you have a savings account that grows so quickly!

    Thanks for the well wishes.

  • There was a guy in Virginia that spilled a strawberry beer in hi walk in freezer and took a taste and decided to market the “beersicles” since it was a pansy ass flavored beer and tasted sweet. The licensing board shut him down within a week because it violated the VA liquor board rules. But there have definitely been people on your wavelength.
